Another pic from the river
This past weekend, Kevin, Dad, and I went to the 50th Anniversary Celebration for Slumber Falls Camp. This camp has a very special place in our family. Dad was a counselor at this camp starting in the 50's and continued until the 70's. Then as the 80's arrived, Kevin and I attended as campers until we were old enough to be CIT's. (Counselor-in-Training). And of course in the 90's, we were campers, counselors, and CITs. And now in the 2000 decade, we have been counselors and Kevin & Leah have even been directors for the camp for the last three years.
The place has grown with activities and modernization since we were campers but it still a great place to get away to. Its located right on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels and its still a good place to reflect on many things. We got to see a lot of old familiar faces and we also looked back at a lot of pictures. There was even one of Dad when he was a counselor and the man was wearing a bolo tie. Needless to say, that was a bit of a fashion issue back in the day. But Kevin and I got a laugh out of it.

We had a full day at the camp. It ended with a great banquet in New Braunfels at the McKenna Center. There were speaches and rememberances from former camp ministers and other special people. There was lots of singing of some very familiar camp songs. And of course there was talks about the future of Slumber Falls.
But for me, the highlight of the night was the video that was put together for the event. There was a lot of history and pictures on it that I haven't seen in a long time. There was also a lot of interviews of former campers that we went to camp with.
Dad really enjoyed the time there. He got to see his two preachers as he says. Two of his former campers are now ministers. He also got to see some old faces that he hadn't seen in years. For Kevin and I, it was a chance to see a few old friends and reminisce about our times at SFC.
And where was Mom, Dawn, Leah, and Hudson during all of this? They were in Austin doing whatever it is they do. I have included a couple pictures and a video of Hudson to complete this blog.
